Each week I recap the newest episode of Grey's Anatomy with my pharmacy manager. [Yes I managed to find a boss that thoroughly enjoys Grey's Anatomy] He told me about the surgeries and the new romantic interests. He mentioned that one of the character's mother was on the show.
Me: Oh yeah...Avery's mother is Debbie Allen
Him: *blink blink* Ooh....Who?
Me: *began rabmling Debbie Allen's IMBd*
He had no idea who she was. I couldn't believe it. In my world, everyone knows who Debbie Allen is. To him she was just another nameless Black actress. To me, she is a legend.
I was waiting for Soledad O'Brien to appear as I experienced my "CNN Presents: Black in America" moment.
Here she is along side her sister, Phylicia Rashad. ;-)
